BSCW - Basic Support for Cooperative Work

General Information

BSCW (Basic Support for Cooperative Work) is a virtual environment for work in teams. With it, you can develop projects, exchange and document information, organise work and communicate between team members. Users can store information in one common place.

BSCW Tools

  • Central administration of workspace (groups, profiles and rights)
  • Organisation of tasks (versioning of documents, feedback)
  • Communication and interaction (forum, notes, contact list)
  • Coordination of dates (calender and email)

How to access BSCW

There are two different ways to access BSCW, depending on whether you organise a project as a team leader or are invited to join a project to work in a group.

  • If you want to lead a project, you simply need a login and password (HRZ-Account) to register. Then you can enter your workspace and organise this new project and invite others to join the group.
  • If you are invited to join a project, you will receive an email with a link to a BSCW project. Subsequently, you enter BSCW by "access your workspaces".

Service

The university computing center is planning free BSCW introduction workshops. At the moment workshops are already offered at cost through the eLearning Workshopreihe.
